About

Christopher Wall is a British designer-maker and scagliola specialist based in Worcestershire, UK. He studied Industrial Design at Birmingham City University before completing his MA at Florence Design Academy in Italy. After graduating, he gained valuable experience working in several furniture design studios in London. It was during his time in Italy that Christopher first discovered scagliola — an ancient plaster technique traditionally used to imitate marble. Since founding Christopher Wall Design in 2019, he has dedicated himself to mastering this rare craft through extensive self-taught practice and experimentation. Being self-taught has given him an intimate, hands-on understanding of the material and its possibilities.

A passionate maker who loves creating with his hands, Christopher creates bespoke works for interior designers and architects seeking unique, one-of-a-kind pieces for their clients. His work blends traditional artisanal techniques with a contemporary design sensibility to produce luxurious furniture, lighting, and sculpture.

Crafted for Unique Interiors

Scagliola is a remarkable ancient Italian plaster technique dating back to the 17th century, originally developed as a luxurious and lighter alternative to solid marble. Today it is a rare craft, practised by only a handful of makers worldwide. Christopher personally mixes every batch by hand, carefully weighing pigments in precise percentages to achieve the exact colours he envisions. He then manipulates the wet plaster entirely by hand to create flowing, organic patterns and veining unique to each piece. Every work then undergoes extensive hand-sanding and polishing — all done by Christopher himself — to achieve a deep, luxurious finish that closely resembles, and often surpasses, the beauty of natural stone.

This slow, tactile, and deeply personal process offers interior designers and architects complete creative freedom. Christopher works closely with design teams to colour-match scagliola to specific interior schemes, developing truly unique surfaces and forms that perfectly complement each project. Because no machines are used at any stage, every piece becomes a modern homage to traditional craftsmanship while delivering bespoke solutions that no off-the-shelf furniture can match.

Clients include: Amie Corley, Bryan O’Sullivan, Duffy London, House of Honey, Jamie Drake, Linda Boronkay, L’Objet, Rees Roberts + Partners, Studio Reed, Tammy Connor, Wentworth by GBS, as well as private collectors and leading interior designers both in the UK, Europe and the US.
